About the Chapter

Committees

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee shall audit the Treasurer’s accounts, including all bank statements and accounts receivable, at the close of the fiscal year and report to the membership at the annual meeting for the fiscal year ending on the immediately preceding June 30. It shall report its findings to the membership no later than the annual June meeting of the following year.

Benevolence Committee

The Chair should maintain the Benevolence Process and Procedures manual for day-to-day operations of the committee. The Benevolence Chair shall direct all benevolence-related inquiries, updates, and concerns to the Corresponding Secretary for distribution to the chapter.

Finance Committee

A Finance Committee composed of the Treasurer, Business Manager, and other members shall be appointed by the President promptly after each annual meeting. It shall be the duty of this committee to prepare and submit an annual budget to the Chapter after collaborating with all Committee Chairs, including ad hoc committees.

Membership Committee

The Committee shall recruit new members and urge delinquent members to become active. The Membership Committee also has the responsibility of developing guidelines and procedures for qualifications, dues, and other matters related to all members, including Associate Members, subject to approval by the Chapter.

Program Committee

The primary duty of the Program Committee shall be to plan the annual program and activities of the Chapter. The ad hoc subcommittees are Scholarship, Community Awareness, Social Affairs, and Student Enrichment. The Program Committee shall include the following regular subcommittees: Scholarship & Student Success, Community Awareness, Homecoming/Social Affairs, and Gala Annual Fundraising.

Scholarship & Student Success Subcommittee

The Scholarship & Student Success Subcommittee Co-Chair leads the Chapter’s scholarship program and student enrichment efforts, including application processes, selection procedures, student support, enrichment participation, and continuing eligibility requirements.

Student Enrichment Subcommittee

The Student Enrichment Subcommittee Co-Chair leads the Chapter’s student engagement, leadership development, mentoring, career readiness, and enrichment initiatives to strengthen connections between the Chapter, Fayetteville State University, prospective students, current students, scholarship recipients, and alumni. The Co-Chair develops meaningful educational, professional, and cultural experiences that support student success while fostering lifelong engagement with the University and the DC Chapter.

Community Awareness Subcommittee

The Community Awareness Subcommittee leads efforts to strengthen the visibility, reputation, and community presence of the Washington, DC Chapter and Fayetteville State University within the DC metropolitan area.

Communications & Marketing Committee

The Committee will be responsible for promoting membership, scholarship, fundraising, student success, community awareness, events, and Chapter accomplishments, and for ensuring the Chapter’s communications and public-facing materials reflect approved brand standards and the Chapter’s official voice.
